Shabbat

Every Shabbat, we meet about 180 congregants in person and another approximately 150 on Zoom.  Zoomers tune in from California, Arizona, Utah, Nevada, Canada, Alabama, Georgia, and even Israel.

  • 9:00 - 9:55 - Our services begin with one-hour study of the weekly Torah portion as prescribed in the Hebrew calendar.  The study session offers an opportunity for congregants to contribute their interpretations and questions, in addition to those of the leader.
  • 10:00 – 11:30 -We offer a worship service for which we use our own prayer book, based on the traditional Jewish Shabbat service. The service itself consists of prayers in English and Hebrew, some recited, others sung.  Prayers for healing and memorial prayers are part of our service.  Those who are capable are offered the opportunity to chant from the week’s Torah portion.
  • 11:30 – 12:15 - The service includes a sermon or " drash" from one of our leaders, followed by closing prayers and Kiddush and Motzie
  • 12:15 - 2:00 - A potluck dairy kosher lunch follows the service which ends that ends at 1:45, with clearing of the facility completed no later than 2:00 PM. During the lunch we have further discussion of Torah, and nearly every week we do an interview of one of our members, so that everyone can get to know each other in greater depth

Join our mailing list to receive weekly information about religious leadership for that week's Shabbat services and the regular location where services are held.

Pot luck lunch after services

After services we share in a sumptuous pot luck lunch based on the "hospitality" principal expressed in Genesis 18:2-8. "Abraham warmly greeted three strangers and provided for their comfort while Sarah created a meal for them using the finest grains and meat."

Therefore, please bring your favorite KOSHER dish, plated and ready to serve.

If you are unable to bring a dish we request you make a $20.00 donation towards the, pizza, bagels, and cream cheese provided by the minyan.

Shabbat on Zoom

We are pleased to offer remote participation in our services through Zoom.  Viewers can contribute their thoughts and comments in a two way conversation during the Torah study or the drash, time permitting.

The Zoom service is accessable to members and email list subscribers. However, recordings for later or repeat viewing are available only to Torah Minyan members.

Everyone is required to sign into Zoom with their first and last names. Those who don't use their first and last names will be placed in a waiting room.

Please make sure you are muted a few minutes before 9:00 a.m.when Torah Study begins and during services.

Our weekly email includes the Zoom meeting ID and passcode.
